Background

Holoptic, LLC is a small business concern spun off from Luminit, LLC in 2019 to focus on holographic technology for civil and military applications. Holoptic’s Transparent Holographic Display is the key enabling component for Augmented Reality (AR) systems that include Head Up and Head/Helmet Mounted displays for automotive and avionics. In addition, Holoptic supplies Micro optic and Holographic Optical Element (HOE) components to AR developers and manufacturers.

Our Story

Holoptic HoloCore is based on Luminit’s decades-long research in Holographic Optical Element (HOE) technology, which has resulted in numerous patents. Our patented approach to wave-guide HOEs was developed for NASA applications over 10 years ago, and OEMs and Tier 1 manufacturers turn to Holoptic to solve their most challenging holography requirements. Holoptic HoloCore is designed into smart glasses currently on the market, and we are a leading producer of holographic products. Holoptic’s unique and patented production capabilities allow high speed and cost-effective roll-to-roll optical replication of holograms, and our state-of-the-art factory gives us holographic capabilities that are unmatched anywhere in the world.

Government Services by Holoptic

Holoptic offers premier engineering, science, and technology pioneering, providing cutting-edge solutions for aerospace, energy, biomedical, transportation and manufacturing sectors. Located in Torrance, CA, our staff includes some of world’s leading optical experts, including scientists, engineers, and production personnel, many of whom hold Ph.D. degrees. With more than 20 years of in-depth expertise, seven recording labs and 20 lasers, Holoptic has developed more than numerous advanced technologies (Augmented Reality, Hypersonics, Directed Energy, and Machine Learning) and products for government agencies, aerospace contractors and manufacturers seeking to improve performance and reduce costs.

Holoptic’s staff is organized into two major technology centers:

  • Holographic Optical Element (HOE)-based Technologies
  • Electro-optical and Spectral Sensing, Fiber-optics and Photonic Integration, and Nanotechnologies

HOE-based Technologies

Luminit has developed a successful HOE-based technology that enables high brightness virtual image head-up display (HUD) and Head-mounted display (HMD) systems for the US Army and Navy as well as an Integrated Eye tracker and Head Mounted Display for US Air Force. With its advanced holographic capabilities, Luminit provides new HUD and HMD systems designs with higher than current technologies display brightness (10x due to highly efficient holographic optical elements), more compact design, larger virtual image size, reduced weight, more flexibility in packaging design with beams directed as needed and not limited by mirrored reflection, energy and cost savings.

Lasers, Displays, Sensing, Fiber-optics and Photonic Integration, and Nanotechnologies

Luminit’s Research and Development, in collaboration with industries and governmental agencies, has become a nation’s leading electro-optics, fiber-optics and nano-photonics research group. Its researchers and engineers have developed more than 20 cutting-edge and innovative technologies, and systems. Through this interdisciplinary research group, Luminit has achieved systems integration, prototype-development and commercialization activities in military and industrial fields.
